This is a design-it-yourself class that will include pre-recored videos (as needed), but this is primarily a class with LIVE interactive sessions to discuss, share ideas, answer questions, and shape the original project you will design. In the event you can't attend a particular session, the LIVE sessions will be recorded, posted, and available anytime.
The gist of this class is for each person to create an original, artful quilt—most likely a wall-quilt—that is innovative and aesthetically pleasing, but using primarily traditional pieced units.
Students will see what the others are doing, and ideas will be shared— drawing inspiration from each other for ideas and suggestions.
The designs will feature focus blocks that are then surrounded and enhanced by the patchwork units. There is leeway for appliqué, but the Gridified Art Quilt is primarily geared toward patchwork. You will choose to work on a 4" or 6" grid. Templates for both size grids are provided in the PDF.Each student will access a downloadable PDF that contains cutting instructions or templates for numerous block units. This PDF is the predecessor for a forthcoming Gridified Art Quilt book. Class input, insights, and suggestions will be appreciated. Student's may submit their final original quilt to be included in the publication.
Participants agree that their final work or work-in-progress may be used in digital form and on social media and emails for class promotions.
