Birmingham – Festival of Quilts
Our adventure begins at the world-renowned Festival of Quilts in Birmingham! Spend time exploring the show, taking classes, joining lectures (arranged individually), and shopping for treasures from around the world. A highlight of our visit will be a cultural exchange with a group of Japanese quilters led by renowned artist Sachiko Yoshida, whose work will be featured in a special exhibit at the show. It’s sure to be an inspiring celebration of creativity across cultures.

Be sure to see Ricky’s quilt, The Visitation, featured in a special exhibition, and attend Ricky’s lecture sharing the story and artistry behind this remarkable work.

  Friday - Sunday July 31 - August 2

Non-quilters: You are welcome and will have tons of non-quilting enjoyment on this tour.
In Birmingham, explore on your own by train to nearby towns or villages. There is plenty to do if the quilt convention is not your cup of tea.

The two other quilt specific events will be enjoyable—or— scuttle off on your own and explore the other things that tickle your fancy.

Leaving Birmingham, we’ll journey south through the English countryside, with unforgettable stops along the way. Marvel at the soaring spire and intricate stone masonry of Salisbury Cathedral, one of England’s greatest medieval treasures, and stand in awe before the ancient wonder of Stonehenge. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in the elegant city of Bath, our home for the next three nights.

We’ll also take a day trip south to Devon (Exeter) for a special guild gathering with British quilters, featuring a group Show & Tell and lecture by Ricky. A perfect blend of culture, history, and creative connection!
